Your First Lesson

Many students wonder what it's like to take a lesson with me for the first time.

Usually, the first builds upon a bit of back and forth prior to the first meeting.  In particular, I ask students to tell me a bit about their background and their goals, and also to tell me about some tunes that they can already play, as well as tunes they want to learn.   When possible, I'll also ask student to send me a short clip of their playing.  The idea is so I walk into the lesson with a very good idea on what I'm going to need to do to help the student. 

Hopefully, I'll have a basic first semester learning plan drawn up by the end of the first lesson.   At that point the student might want to sign up for lessons on the spot.  Of course, some students may wish to think it over
